What if the STEM Gap Starts Earlier Than We Think? Alyssa Huang at TEDx Youth
Alyssa Huang is a student at the Branson School. In her TEDx Youth talk, Alyssa reflects on her middle school Math Team experience, which sparked her interest in understanding why girls often lose confidence in math and science. She explores research showing that gender and socioeconomic STEM gaps arise from similar barriers, including limited early exposure, lack of encouragement, stereotypes, and a shortage of role models. Drawing on her experiences as a tutor and student teacher, Alyssa shares practical ways to help students build confidence and seem themselves in STEM.
